Pine Bluff Aquatic Center

Pine Bluff Aquatic Center
More Than a Pool. A Place to Belong.
Reframing a public facility as a community wellness destination.

Everybody In

Pine Bluff Aquatic Center had more to offer than many people realized.

It was not just a pool. It was swim lessons, fitness, family time, water aerobics, lap lanes, recreation, confidence-building, and community gathering. But like many public-facing facilities, the full value of the center was not always immediately clear to the people it served.

Some saw it as a kids-only place. Some saw it as a serious-swimmer place. Some saw it as seasonal. Some simply did not see themselves in it at all.

FRESH was brought in to help shift that perception and create a campaign platform that could drive memberships, increase visits, and make more of Pine Bluff feel invited into the water.

The Business Problem

The Aquatic Center needed more than awareness.

It needed relevance.

A facility can have strong programming, good amenities, and real community value, but if the public does not understand how it fits into their life, participation suffers. The challenge was to move the center from “that pool over there” to a place people could see as part of their routine, their wellness, their family life, and their community.

The campaign needed to reach new members without making current users feel overlooked.

It needed to feel public, but not plain. Energetic, but not cheesy. Welcoming, but not watered down. Pun intended. Slightly.

The Strategic Idea

The insight came from the tension inside the phrase “more than.”

Yes, Pine Bluff Aquatic Center is more than a pool. But it also needed to proudly own the things people already knew it for.

That led to a flexible campaign idea built around redaction-style messaging:

We are more than kid pools.
We are kid pools.

The structure allowed the center to expand public perception while still celebrating its core offerings. It did not reject what people already understood. It built on it.

Why It Matters

The campaign gave Pine Bluff Aquatic Center a more useful way to communicate value.

Instead of presenting the center as a list of amenities, the messaging framed it as a place for different needs, ages, routines, and motivations. That matters because people do not buy into a facility. They buy into what the facility helps them do.

Move better. Learn to swim. Spend time with family. Build confidence. Stay active. Belong somewhere.

For city leaders and community decision-makers, this kind of campaign supports more than marketing. It supports participation, public perception, membership growth, and civic pride.

The work helped make the Aquatic Center feel less like a building with water and more like a shared community asset.
